UH Leadership Fundamentals Certificate Details

Empowering people to be leaders. That is the mission of the EmPOWER Leadership Fundamentals Certificate. Designed to cover the fundamentals of leadership, the program focuses on what being a leader means to each person as an individual. EmPOWER embodies more than a to-do list for a leader. It helps people learn about themselves, and in doing so, how to become genuine, effective, and indispensible leaders within any organization.

The University of Houston Leadership Program is an intensive ten-week program that focuses on unleashing the power of self-knowledge to make effective, confident, and powerful leaders. It consists of five modules:

  1. Being a Leader
  2. Interpersonal Mastery
  3. Negotiations and Conflict Management
  4. Social Intelligence and Ethics
  5. The Power of YOU IN ACTION (3-hour Capstone)

All four modules and the capstone are covered in a 10 week session on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This course challenges what you know of leadership and prepares you to discover what leadership can mean for you!
