Project Management Certificate Details

The University of Houston School of Continuing and Professional Studies’s Project Management Certificate Program is designed to help project managers and team leaders successfully motivate and lead a team, while coordinating their efforts to ensure workflow stability. 

The Project Management Certificate Program is presented in two parts. Both course sections are covered in full day classes that meet Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  

Fundamentals of Project Management: Part 1

Tools & Techniques (3 days — 24 PDUs)

You will learn to:

• Effectively define, plan, execute, control and successfully close your projects.
• Set realistic goals and objectives.
• Organize and structure your projects.
• Develop schedules and realistic resource plans.
• Control and report on single or multiple projects.
• Use these tools to create the desired behaviors in project team members and stakeholders.

Fundamentals of Project Management: Part 2

The People Side (2 days — 16 PDUs)

You will learn to:

• Use leadership skills and techniques.
• Create, build and lead your project teams.
• Motivate and empower team members.
• Develop effective communication plans for both internal and external communications.
• Manage cross-functional and multicultural teams.
• Develop a personal leadership style and interact with people of different styles.

These courses can be completed over five consecutive days (at a significant cost savings), or at separate times. Courses will be offered throughout the year.
